Why Archery Belongs in Our Schools

City Archers exists to expand opportunity.

Our long-term goal is to see archery recognized as a sanctioned high school sport across the Greater Cincinnati region. Not as an extracurricular novelty, but as a legitimate athletic pathway with real outcomes for students.

Too many young people are excluded from traditional sports systems. Speed, size, agility, and raw strength determine access. Injuries often end opportunities before they begin. Archery offers a different corridor.

Archery is disciplined, inclusive, and skill-based. It rewards focus, consistency, patience, and self-control. Students do not need to be swift of foot, exceptionally strong, or physically dominant to compete. They need attention, practice, and commitment. That makes archery uniquely accessible to students who are often overlooked.

01
A Pathway to College

Our vision goes beyond individual programs.

City Archers is working toward the creation of a dedicated scholarship fund for competitive archers. This fund will be supported through fundraising efforts, tournaments, corporate sponsors, local businesses, and individual donors.

The purpose is clear. Reduce financial barriers and expand access to college for students who commit to the discipline of archery.

We also aim to expand our reach throughout schools and summer programs, ensuring that exposure to archery is not limited by zip code, income, or prior athletic experience.

02
Looking Ahead

As the program grows, our long-term goal is to establish a brick-and-mortar training location that allows year-round archery instruction, practice, and competition. This space would serve as a hub for student development, coaching, and community engagement.

In addition, City Archers seeks to become an active community partner with organizations such as:

  • Cincinnati Parks and Recreation

  • YMCA programs

  • Boys and Girls Clubs

These partnerships allow archery to reach students where they already are and integrate into trusted community spaces.

Partner With Us

Advocacy requires collaboration.

School leaders, community organizations, sponsors, and donors play a critical role in making this vision possible. Recognizing archery as a school sport is not about replacing traditional athletics.

It is about expanding opportunity and giving more students a viable path forward.

If you believe access should not be limited to a single athletic mold, we invite you to partner with City Archers and help build the future of archery in our schools.
